NRA Level 1 Rifle Coach Certification Course
Become a Certified NRA Rifle Coach and Help Develop the Next Generation of Competitive Shooters
The Meridian Optimist Junior Rifle Club (MOJRC) is proud to host an NRA Level 1 Rifle Coach Certification Course. Whether you're a parent, former athlete, coach, or simply interested in supporting youth shooting sports, this course provides the knowledge and credentials to coach beginning and intermediate rifle athletes.
The NRA Coach Education Program emphasizes safe, ethical, and effective coaching techniques while helping coaches develop the skills needed to build confident, successful shooters. The Level 1 Coach School combines classroom instruction with practical coaching exercises and covers topics such as:
- Safety and risk management
- Coaching ethics and responsibilities
- Fundamentals of rifle shooting
- Coaching methodology
- Training planning
- Equipment and range operations
- Competition events and rulebook use
- Building quality youth shooting programs
Successful participants will earn NRA Level 1 Rifle Coach Certification, qualifying them to coach beginning and intermediate smallbore and air rifle athletes. Certification is valid for two years.
Course Information
Dates: Friday, September 25 - Sunday, September 27
Location: Meridian Optimist Junior Rifle Club Range
This is a 16-hour instructor-led course combining classroom instruction and practical coaching activities.

MOJRC Coach Incentive
Individuals who successfully complete the certification and commit to coaching with Meridian Optimist Junior Rifle Club will have their $110 course materials fee reimbursed by MOJRC.
Participants are still responsible for:
- NRA certification fee
- NRA membership (optional)
Returning Coaches
Previously certified NRA coaches are welcome to audit the course at no charge as a refresher. This is an excellent opportunity to review current coaching methods and reconnect with fellow coaches.
